Establishment of Math Branch

Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyateertha Mahaswamy  paid visits to Ankola & Karwar staying at Sri Padmanabha Teertha Swamy math at Baad, Karwar.  Later on, on the way to Goa in the year 1967 again the people of Karwar had the opportunity to have the blessings of Maha Sannidhanam.    Mahasannidhanam was impressed by seeing the surroundings of Baad Math and expressed his view to  have Sri Sringeri Shankar Math nearby.   Sri Ramachandra Nagappa Shetti  donated his own land of 17 Guntas situated at Phatarpekar Road in the midst of the city and respectfully invited His Holiness for laying foundation stone.

Foundation Stone

Mahasannidhanam along with Sannidhanam Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamigal, laid the foundation stone on 8th December, 1975.  Both the Swamijis had arrived in Karwar on 7th December, 1975 and they were welcomed in very grand manner by a huge gathering of Karwar people.  The procession of both the swamijis in Phallakkis has been outstanding and the sweet memories are still there in the  hearts of the people of Karwar.

Construction of Math Bldg and inauguration

The construction of the Math building took three years for completion.  Along with Math the residence for His Holiness, Archaks and also a small hall were constructed with in the same compound.  Later on 23.02.1986 the hall has been converted as Shree Sharada Vaachanalaya.

Inauguration of Math, Kumbhabhisheka of Lord Ganesh, Godess Sharada and Adi Shankaracharya were performed by the hands of Maha Sannidanam. The people of Karwar still remember the scenery of Maha Sannidanam climbing to the tip of Gopur to install the Kalash.  Later, the Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamigal arrived for the first time after construction of Math on 07.06.1984, and He was welcomed by a very huge procession in very grand way.

Ashtabandhana Kumbabhishekham

At the direction of Maha Sannidanam Sri Sri Bharati TIrtha Maha Swamigal, the Asthabanda and  Kumbhabhishekha was again performed on 17.02.1997, after 19 years.

Setting up of Mahila mandal and Yuvak mandal

The Bhaginis of Vaishya Samaja thought of serving the Math and  therefore a Mahila Mandal was formed on 02.01.1988 and named SRI SHARADHA MAHILA MANDAL.  In the same way the group of Samaj Youths have formed  SRI SHANKAR YUVAK MANDAL  on 23.01.1993. These two groups are actively participating in all functions of the Math.

Silver Jubilee Celebration

The Silver Jubilee celebration was celebrated  on 13.03.2004. As token of Silver Jubilee event a newly constructed GURU BHAVAN was inaugurated by  Maha Sannidanam and a Souvenir was also released.
