Shankara Jayanti Mahotsava at Bangalore Shankara Math
As a part of Sri Shankara Jayanti Mahotsava observed at Sringeri aswell as branch maths throughout the country, the five day long celebrations will also be celebrated at the the century old Bangalore branch of Sri Sringeri Math at Shankarapuram with the benign blessings of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji from 4th May 2011 to 8th May 2011. The details of the programme is as follows.
At the Shrine of Sri Adi Shankaracharya
- May 4 – May 7 2011 (Vaishakha Shukla Prathama – Vaishakha Shukla Chaturthi)
- Laghunaysya Purvaka Ekadasha Rudraabhisheka
- Parayana of Vedas, Prasthanatraya Bhasya, Srimad Bhagavadgita and Sriman-Madhaviya Shankara Digvijaya.
- Maha-Mangalarati at 11:00 A.M.
- May 8 2011 (Vaishakha Shukla Panchami)
- Mahanasya-purvaka Shata-Rudrabiskekam beginning at 8:00 A.M.
- Sri Rudra Homa beginning at 8:00 A.M.
- Purnahuti of Rudra-Homa at 11:00 A.M.
- Maha-Mangalarati at 11:30 A.M.
- Rathotsava of the Utsava-Murti of Sri Adi Shankaracharya through the streets of Shankarapuram at 12:00 Noon.
Upanyasa
Eminent scholars will deliver upanyasas on Sri Shankaracharya and His works throughout the five days in the evening at the Math premises at Shankarapuram. Following is the programme schedule.
- Wednesday, May 4 2011 – Upanasya by Dr.Y.S Gayatri on (Topic )Sri Shankaracharya’s Shivastuti.
- Thursday, May 5, 2011 – Upanasya by Vidvan Sri Mahabaleshwara Bhatta on the Debate ( Samvada )between Sri Shankara and Sri Mandana Mishra.
- Friday, May 6, 2011 – Upanasya by Mahamahopadya, Vedanta Chakravati Sri K.G Subbaraya Sharma on Life And Achivements of Sri Shankaracharya.
- Saturday, May 7, 2011 & Sunday, May 8, 2011 – Upanasya by Vidvan Sri Bhakurdi M.V Narasimhamurthi Shastri on Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada’s Advita Vedanta.
Mahamangalarati to Sri Adi Shankaracharya Bhagavatpada and Goddess Sharadamba will be conducted after the upanyasa sessions at the respective shrines at 8:30 P.M. daily.
