Shashtyabdapurti celebrations at Chennai


 

Sri Vidyatheertha Foundation, Chennai organised a Mahotsavam to mark the Sashtyabthapoorthi of Jagadguru Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji, from the 23rd to 27th of last month. The main feature of this Mahotsavam was the Photo exhibition titled ‘ Inspiring Saint’ containing the Life and Teachings of His Holiness. This exhibition was inaugurated by His Holiness Gautamananda Maharaj, President Sri Ramakrishna Mutt, Chennai in the presence of Sri A.Krishnamoorthy,Chairman, Amalgamations Group, Dr.V.R.Gowrishankar,Administrator,Sri Sringeri Shankar Math and Sri S.Gurumurthy, Corporate Advisor.

At the inaugural function, Dr.V.R.Gowrishankar, Administrator and CEO of Sri Sringeri Shankar Math was honoured for his outstanding service to the society. Swami Gautamananda honoured him with a silk shawl and presented the citation. Sri A.Krishnamoorthy presented the memento.

Sri A.Krishnamoorthy, Chairman Amalgamations Group, Chennai released a DVD titled ‘Sacred Worship of Lord Chandramouleeshwara’ and presented the first copy to Swami Gautamanda. He also delivered a special address on the occasion outlining the greatness of the Jagadguru.

His Holiness Swami Gautamananda, who presided over the function also released a special souvenir published by Amman Darshanam. The first copy was presented to Sri S.Gurumurthy. Swamiji, in his presidential address spoke about the greatness of Sri Sringeri Math and also about the unique qualities of the Jagadguru Sri Bharathi Tirtha Mahaswamiji.

Dr.V.R.Gowrishankar, Administrator and CEO of Sri Sringeri Shankar Math presented the Scholarships to Vedic students. It must be noted all the students are from Thiruvaiyaru and Sri Vidyatheertha Foundation is funding this Patashala over the last three years. Dr.V.R. Gowrishankar who delivered the Key-note address outlined the saintly qualities of the Jagadguru.

Sri S.Gurumurthy renowned columnist and Corporate Advisor delivered the Vardhanti Address. In his speech he outlined the greatness of this country and pointed out the role played by Sri Sringeri Shankar Mutt in preserving our ancient values and heritage.

Well known Harikatha exponent Dhamal Sri S.Ramakrishnan also spoke on the occasion. Sri R.Krishnan, Managing Trustee of the Foundation welcomed the gathering and explained about the objective of having a Photo exhibition.

Many renowned musicians rendered bhakthi sangeeth in the five day long Mahotsavam and both Dhamal Sri S.Ramakrishnan and Smt. Perundevi delivered a series of lecture on ‘ Srimad Narayaneeyam’

There was stream of visitors to the Photo exhibition and it contained many a rare photographs of His Holiness right from his childhood ,sanyasa and up to the recent functions in Sringeri.
