Deepotsavas in Kartika Masa

Kartika Deepotsava, celebrated as Laksha deepotsava took place on the Poornima of Kartika month on 17th November 2013. After the Chandramoulishwara Puja, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji arrived at Lord Malahanikareshwara Temple. The Laksha Deepotsava then began with the Jagadguru lighting a lamp. The Utsava Moorti of Lord Bhavani Malahanikareshwara was carried along the main streets of Sringeri in the presence of the Jagadguru. A golden chariot Utsava of Goddess Sharada and Teppotsava took place immediately afterwards.

The Teppotsava contained five Utsava Murtis for the first time – the Utsava Murti of Adi Shankaracharya was also carried in the Teppam along with the Utsava Murtis of Goddess Sharada, Bhavani, Malahanikareshwara, and Vidyashankara. Over the subsequent days, the Jagadguru graced deepotsavas held in the temples of Durgamba (November 19), Kalikamba (November 22) and Sri Anjaneya Swami (November 23).
