On January 2 2016, Kalabhairavashtami was observed at Sringeri with Lord Kalabhairava being worshipped by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji. Sri Mahasannidhanam performed Abhisheka to Lord Kalabhairava with pure water, milk, and Panchamrita, and accompanied to the sonorous chanting of Sri Rudra and other mantras by the Panditas of the Math as well as students of the Sadvidya Sanjeevini Samskrita Mahapathashala. Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam was present during the Mahamangalarati. Later in the evening, Deepotsava was celebrated at the shrine in the august presence of Sri Sannidhanam. The event concluded with Mahamangalarati and Ashtavadhana Seva.
