Jagadguru welcomed to Bangalore


 

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peethadhipati Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamigal started from Sringeri on 5th April 2007 and reached Bangalore on the 9th to conduct the Centenary Celebrations of Sri Sringeri Shankara Math, Bangalore. The Jagadguru, arriving at the city after a gap of 12 years was welcomed reverentially at Yeshwantpur (outskirts of Bangalore) by the executives of the Bangalore Metropolitan Corporation.

As the Jagadguru’s entourage reached Shankarapuram, thousands of disciples of the Peetham received the Jagadguru at Sri Sringeri Shankara Math. The Jagadguru first had Darshan of Goddess Sharada and Sri Adi Shankara. The Jagadguru then inaugurated the newly constructed “Sri Bharati Nivasa” constructed adjacent to the main hall of the Math and dedicated at His Lotus Feet by the devotees at Bangalore. On behalf of the citizens of the city, Sri V R Gowrishankar along with his wife then performed the Dhuli Pada Puja to the Jagadguru.

At the special reception function, Vedabrahmasri Kalaseshwara Bhat, Vedabrahmasri Shivakumara Sharma and Vedabrahmasri Manaschandra Mishra chanted the Rig, Yajur and Sama Veda. The Jagadguru in His benedictory address said – “Sri Adi Shankara is foremost amongst the philosophers of the world. He is a Mahapurusha who has shown the path of welfare to every individual. Amongst the four Amnaya Peethams that Sri Shankara established, the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham has had an unbroken chain of illustrious Acharyas. The 33rd Jagadguru and Our Parameshti Guru, Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamigal who was famous as Abhinava Shankara, founded the Shankara Math at Shankarapuram, Bangalore for the sustenance of Sanatana Dharma and consecrated the shrine of Sri Adi Shankara. Thereafter, in 1939, Our Paramaguru Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswamigal consecrated Goddess Sharada Parameshwari here. Our revered Guru Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Mahaswamigal further expanded this Math.” The Jagadguru conveyed that He had come to Bangalore considering it the bounden duty to conduct the Centenary of this Math, sanctified by the dust of such Mahapurushas.
Jagadguru starts on Vijaya Yatra, reaches Bangalore

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamigal reached Sri Sringeri Shankara Math Bangalore on April 9th. Starting from Sringeri on the morning of 5th April, the Jagadguru travelled via Jayapura, Chikmagalur, Chennarayapatna, Hassan and visited the Math at Shivaganga before arriving at Bangalore on the evening of 9th. Arriving at the city after a gap of 11 years, the Jagadguru was accorded a grand reception with Purna Kumbha. Earlier, on April 2nd, a Laksha Modaka Ganapati Homa was performed at Jagadguru Chandrashekhara Bharati Sabha Bhavanam at Sringeri as prayers to Lord Ganapati for the Vijaya Yatra of the Jagadguru
