Jagadguru’s reception on arrival at Mumbai

The Jagaduru arriving in Mumbai after 13 years was given a warm and reverential welcome by a large gathering of disciples on July 26th 2007 evening at the outskirts of the city. A long procession as part of the reception to the Jagadguru culminated in the Sri Sringeri Shankara Math located in Chembur. Having reached the Math, the Jagadguru had Darshan of Sri Mahaganpati, Sri Sharada Parameshwari, Sri Adi Shankaracharya and Juna Hanuman.

A Jagadguru Swagata Sabha was organized where Dhuli Pada Puja to the Jagadguru was performed on behalf of all disciples of Mumbai by the president of Sharada seva samithi and Math Administrator Sri V.R.Gowrishankar. Welcome addresses were then read out in Sanskrit and Marathi by ardent disciples. State Minister Sri Patangrao Kadam offered his respectful Pranams.

After the welcome addresseses, homage was paid to Sri Acharyal by authorities of various temples in Mumbai such as Sri Siddhi Vinayak Temple, Sri Shankara Math at Matunga, Bhakta Anjeneya Temple, Mumbadevi Temple, Sri Bhajan Samaj at Matunga, Sri Subramanya Samaj at Chedda Nagar, Bhakta Sangam at Mulund, Kannika Paramewshwari Temple at Matunga, Sri Ahobila Math at Chembur, Sri Bharathi Sharada Charitable Trust at Mulund, South Indian Organisation (Vani Vidyalaya) at Mulund, Mulund Bhajan Samaj , Sri Sringeri Jagatguru Seva Samithi at Dombivli, etc.

The Jagadguru then gave a thrilling Anugraha Bhashanam in chaste Hindi – “The descent of Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada was to revive Sanatana Dharma and Jagadguru Sri Shankaracharya had established the four Amnaya Peethams across the country. There has always been a close connection between Sri Sharada Peetham, at Sringeri and Maharashtra. About 250 years ago, the 28th and 29th Acharyas of the Peetham had resided in Nasik for a few years. Their Adhishtanams are at Panchavati. Our Parameshti Guru Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamigal had visited Kolhapur 120 years back and had stayed there for 15 days. Our revered Guru Sri Abhinava Vidhyatheertha Mahaswamigal visited Mumbai in 1967 and performed Chaturmasya Vrata and Sharan Navarathri which is ever green in the minds of the people. We came here in 1992 for the Kumbhabhishekam of this temple and observed Chaturmasya Vrata and then once again in 1994 for about 15 days.”

The Jagadguru addressing thousands of disciples, said that the people of Maharashtra are very devoted to the Sringeri Jagadgurus, as was evident during the present visit also. The Jagadguru blessed all to come in large numbers and be a part of the various Pujas and auspicious functions to be held during Chaturmasya, followed by the Aradhanas of His Guru and Paramaguru, and the Sharannavaratri Celebrations.

On 28th, Maharashtra Governor Sri S M Krishna had Darshan of the Jagadguru at the Shankara Math.
