Kartika Deepotsava, celebrated as Laksha deepotsava took place on the full-moon night of Kartika Masa (as per the Chaandramana Almanac) on 13th November 2009. The Jagadguru arrived at Lord Malahanikareshwara Temple after the Chandramoulishwara Puja that night and inaugurated the Laksha Deepotsava. The Utsava Moorti of Lord Bhavani Malahanikareshwara was carried along the main streets of Sringeri in the presence of the Jagadguru. Teppotsava took place immediately afterwards. On subsequent days, Deepotsavas also took place at the temples Sri Durgamba, Sri Anjaneya Swami and Sri Kalikamba in the presence of the Jagadguru. Deepotsava was also held at Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple, Narasimhapura Agrahara on Ksheerabdhi Dwadashi day (10th November), with the Dhatri Homa being performed earlier in the day in the temple premises.
