Jagadguru graces Chitrapur Math Celebrations

The Jagadguru made a one-day visit to the Chitrapur Math on the occasion of the tercentennial anniversary year of the establishment of the Math. The Jagadguru started from Sringeri on 24th December and was accorded a reverential welcome on arrival at Chitrapur by the Head of the Math, Sri Sadyojata Shankarashrama Swamiji, the Jagadguru graced a public function the same evening.

Speaking at the function, Sri Sadyojata Shankarashrama Swamiji expressed his heartfelt happiness for having been able to receive the Jagadguru Mahaswamiji at Chitrapur in the tercentennial year of the establishment of the Math. The Swamiji, a frequent visitor to Sringeri for the Jagadguru’s Darshan said that all the activities of the Math are being conducted under the guidance of the Sringeri Jagadguru.

The Jagadguru in His Anugraha Bhashanam explained that everyone needed to have a deep sense of devotion and gratitude towards Sri Shankara Bhagavatpada, without whom none of the Maths would have come into existence for guiding the masses. He quoted His Parameshthi Guru, Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamiji, the rediscoverer of Kalady, as an example to emulate in showing gratitude to Sri Bhagavatpada.

The Jagadguru stated that the Sringeri Sharada Peetham Chitrapur Math have always shared a special bonding beginning from the time of the first Mathadhipati (in 1708) who established the Math with the blessings and approval of the then Shankaracharya of Sringeri, to the present Swamiji who was anointed as the Math’s Head in the Jagadguru’s holy presence in 1997. The Jagadguru commended the Swamiji in effecting developmental activities of the Math and conveyed His Blessings to all the devotees assembled. The following day, devotees offered Pada Puja and Bhiksha Vandanam to the Jagadguru who returned to Sringeri by evening.
