Ardrotsava

Ardrotsava was celebrated on 10th January. Abhishekha to Lord Malahanikareshwara in the hilltop shrine took place during the Brahmi Muhurta. The Mahamangalarati took place at 5:30 AM in the presence of the Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji. The Utsava Murtis of Lord Malahanikareshwara and Goddess Bhavani were taken in a procession led by the Jagadguru. Following three circumambulations in the hillock, the procession continued along the main streets of Sringeri. Devotees including residents of Sringeri made offerings and received the Jagadguru’s Blessings. The procession proceeded to the Sringeri Municipal Office Building, where a Puja was performed to the Utsava Murtis by the Purohit of the Peetham. Ashtavadhana Seva was performed. The procession then returned to the temple amidst chants of devote hymns of Sri Adi Shankaracharya’s Shivananda Lahari chanted by the Vidyarthis of the Sadvidya Sanjeevini Samskrita Maha Pathashala. The previous night, Andhakasura Vadha was celebrated.
