On 3rd April 2009, Sri Rama Navami was celebrated at Sringeri with the Jagadguru performing an elaborate Puja at noon to Sri Ramachandra. The Jagadguru ended the Puja by reading the Sri Rama Janana Sarga from the Bala Kanda of Valmiki Ramayanam. The Jagadguru also had Darshan of Sri Kodandana Rama Swami temple adjacent to Goddess Sharada’s temple in the morning. As part of the Rama Navami celebrations, Carnatic music concerts were held at Pravachana Mandiram. Valmiki Ramayana Parayana was performed at the temple of Sri Kothandrarama Swami temple adjacent to Goddess Sharada’s temple throughout the Vasanta Navaratri. On April 4th, the Pattabhishekha Sarga was read out and Mahamangalarati was performed in the presence of the Jagadguru.

  • It is pitiful that when many of us are asked, “who are you?”, The first thought that arises is “I am a Keralite”, or “I am a Punjabi”, etc. The thought that should immediately stem is “I am an Indian”.
