Sri Subrahmanya Shashthi was celebrated on 22nd November 2009. Pavamana Abhisheka and Rudra Abhisheka was performed at the shrine of Sri Balasubrahmanyaswamy at Sringeri. Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji arrived at the temple for the arati in the morning and blessed the Deepotsava in the evening with His Divine presence. Numbering a hundred, Vidyarthis and Pandits of the Sadvidya Sanjeevini Samskrita Mahapathashala chanted Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada’s composition Sri Subrahmanya Bhujanga Stotram.

The previous day, 21st November morning kumbhabhishekam was performed at Subrahmanyaswamy temple located in the Sacchidanandapura Agrahara of Sringeri. The Mahamangalarati took place in the presence of the Jagadguru.
