The Chief minister of Karnataka, Sri B.S Yediyurappa arrived at Sringeri on January 3rd 2010 on a special visit. The CM was accorded a traditional welcome at the entrance of the Sharada Peetham. The CM had Darshan of Goddess Sharada, Sri Adi Shankaracharya and Sri Vidyashankara. Senior Government officials were present on the occasion. The CM had Darshan of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji and received His Blessings. The CM had a private audience with the Jagadguru Mahaswamiji at Narasimhavanam.
