Peetham to build Gopuram at Rameswaram temple
Rameswaram is the Kshetram for the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham established by Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya. The Jagadgurus of Sringeri are accorded special rights to worship the Jyotirlinga. It has been a time-honoured tradition that priests receive Deeksha at Sringeri and only then offer worship to Sri Ramanathaswamy at the sanctum sanctorum of the huge temple. The Peetham maintains in its branch at Rameswaram various amenities for visiting pilgrims to have a comfortable stay and Darshan at Rameswaram.
