Deepa Pooja

For more than 10 years consecutively, SriSringeri Shankara Math, Pune branch has been conducting the Deepa Puja in a grand manner. This pooja is performed twice in an year i.e., in one of the Fridays in the first months of Uttarayanam (15th January to 15th February) and Dakshinayanam (15th July to 15th August). A total number of  100 suvasinis participate and perform the deepa puja in Sri Sharadamba sannidhi at our branch math.

A nominal Kannikai of Rs.101 is accepted by advance registration from 100 Suvasinis.

Sri Shardamba is worshipped in the oil lit lamp with 16 Upacharas. Soubhagya dravyas like turmeric, betel leaves, glass bangles are offered. Sri Lalita sahasranama archana is done with kumkuma by each suvasini. This is followed by mahaprasadam to all.  The benefit of such satsang pooja is that each participant derives the benefit of the total namavali recited i.e., each participant of the pooja derives the benefit of having performed Laksharchana (100 Suvasinis × 1008 Namavalis each).

The present deepa puja is scheduled on Friday, 4th February, 2011. All are requested to participate in the event and be blessed by Goddess Sri Sharadamba. For further information, please do get in touch with Dharmadhikari at pune@branch.sringeri.net

  • Our nation and its culture have a hoary past and we should all be proud of it. Mere aping of the West is not beneficial for us.
