Construction of Rajagopuram: stage one completed


 

With the blessings of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, the phase one of the construction of the grand Raja-gopuram at the entrance of the Sri Math premises was completed today on Wednesday, the 26th of September 2012 marking the completion of the granite stone base of the one hundred and thirty two feet tall Rajagopuram.

This being the “Adhishthanam” or the base of the nine storeys which will make up the rest of the gopuram, with the blessings of the Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji who is currently observing the Chaturmasya Vrata at Chennai in Tamil Nadu, the Shanku-Sthapana ritual was performed on the of the twenty seven feet tall granite stone base by the Administrator and CEO of the Sringeri Math and its properties, Guruseva Dhurina Dr. V. R. Gowrishankar under the Acharyatva of Brahmasri Subrahmanya Narahari Bhatt, Asthana Archaka at the shrine of Sri Sharadamba, in the morning.
