Jagadguru graces Afzalpur, North Karnataka


 

The Jagadguru reached Afzalpur of Gulbarga district on 19th March evening to a reverential reception from the devotees. The Jagadguru was taken in a grand procession to the Sringeri Shankara Math branch at Afzalpur. In the evening Sabha, after the Swagata patra samarpanam, the Jagadguru Mahaswamiji blessed every one with an elaborate Anugraha Bhashanam explaining Dharma and Adharma, and the necessity to follow Dharma. On 20th morning, the Jagadguru performed Kumbhabhisheka, gave Darshan to the devotees and blessed them all with Phala Mantrakshata and Tirtha Prasada. In the evening, the Jagadguru left for Gulbarga.

Kumbhabhisheka:

The Kumbhabhisheka at the newly constructed Sringeri Shankara Math at Afzalpur took place on the morning of 20th Mar 2014. First the Jagadguru Mahaswamiji performed an elaborate Puja and Kumbhabhisheka to Sri Sharadamba, Sri Dattatreya, Sri Adi Shankaracharya and Sri Chandramoulishwara amidst the chanting of Veda Mantras by the pandits of Sringeri Sharada Peetham. Then the Jagadguru Mahaswamiji performed PranaH Pratishtha of the deities and made the devotees chant the Kamalajadayitashtakam, a hymn on Goddess Sharadamba written by the 33rd Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamiji. Former minister and MLA Sri Malikayya V Guttedar was also present.

  • It is pitiful that when many of us are asked, “who are you?”, The first thought that arises is “I am a Keralite”, or “I am a Punjabi”, etc. The thought that should immediately stem is “I am an Indian”.
