Special Pooja to Sri Malahanikareshwara on the occasion of 64th Vardhanti of the Jagadguru

The 64th Vardhanti Mahotsava of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji was celebrated in a grand manner at Sringeri and in various parts of the world. The week long celebrations at Sringeri commenced with the Sahasra modaka Yaga and concluded with the Guru Vandanam.

The Poornahuti of the Sahasra Modaka Yajna performed with specially prepared Modakas of dimension equivalent to that of a coconut and the Sankalpa of Shatachandika Mahayaga took place in the divine presence of the Jagadguru Mahaswamiji on 1st April morning. The Jagadguru graced the Sankalpa of Maharudra Mahayaga on 2nd April morning. The Jagadguru Mahaswamiji performed a special Puja at the Shrine of Lord Malahanikareshwara on 04th April 2014. On the occasion, the Jagadguru offered special worship to Sri Sthambha Ganapati in the beginning and to Goddess Bhavani at the end.

The following day, i.e., on 05th April 2014, the Jagadguru gave a special Darshan (Anhika Darshanam) to all the disciples of the Peetham who had come at around 6:00 A.M. Following this the Jagadguru visited the Adhishthanams at Narasimhavanam for darshan and then proceeded to the temple of Goddess Shardamba where the Jagadguru performed a special Puja to Goddess Sharadamba. Later, He graced the Purnahutis of the Maharudra and Shata Chandi Yagas.

In the evening at Guru Nivas, the Jagadguru presided over the Guruvandanam function arranged by the disciples of the Jagadguru coming from different parts of the world. The Jagadguru delivered an Anugraha Bhashanam stressing the need to perform Nishkama karma that leads to mental purification and make us eligible to understand the Vedanta Tattva. Prior to this, the Jagadguru released the books “Shaankara Stotrani” and “Shaankara Brahmasutra Bhashyam” with tamil translation by Sri Jnanananda Bharati Swamiji. These books were offered by Gurubhaktamani Sri Ramasubramaneya Raja. Other releases on the occasion include an Audio CD “Jagadguru Upadeshamritamu” Volume-2, a compilation of ten Telugu Anugraha Bhashanams from 2012-13 Vijaya Yatra of the Jagadguru in AndhraPradesh, a Vardhanti special issue of the Telugu monthly Vishakha Vipravani and a tamil book “Sringeri Acharyargalum Tamilnattuk kovilgalum” highlighting the relation between the Sringeri Jagadgurus and the temples of Tamil Nadu. A special release on the occasion was the launch of a website for “Sura Saraswati Sabha” for teaching Sanskrit online.

The Jagadguru Mahaswamiji worshipping Sita Lakshmana Hanumat sameta Sri Ramachandra Swami on Ramanavami day

On April 8th 2014, Sri Rama Navami was celebrated at Sringeri. The Jagadguru performed an elaborate Puja at noon to Sri Sita Lakshmana Hanumat Sameta Sri Ramachandra Swami. At the end of the Puja, the Sri Rama Janana Sarga from the Bala Kanda of Valmiki Ramayanam was read out by the Jagadguru. As part of the Sri Rama Vasantha Navaratri celebrations, Carnatic music concerts were held at Pravachana Mandiram for nine days. Valmiki Ramayana Parayana was performed at the temple of Sri Kothandrarama Swami temple adjacent to Goddess Sharada temple throughout the Vasanta Navaratri. On April 9th, the Pattabhishekha Sarga was read out in the presence of the Jagadguru at Pravachana Mandiram.
