Day 6 of Rajagopuram Kumbhabhishekam


 

With the grand Kumbhabhishekam of the Rajagopuram at Sringeri around the corner, Sringeri town has been witnessing a steady stream of devotees from all parts of India gathering to witness this historic event.

Starting from June 2 2014, Goddess Sharadamba has been decorated in different Alankaras similar to those during the Sharan-Navaratri festival.

Kotikumkumarchana Continues

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji graced the Math precincts in the Norther bank of the Tunga river at around 8:40 am. Being Friday, the Jagadguru first had Darshan at all the temples. At Sharadamba temple, after having the Darshan of Goddess Sharadamba, the Jagadguru remained in the temple for one full session of Lalita Sahasranama Parayana being conducted as part of the Koti Kumkumarchana.

Sahasra Chandika Mahayaga commences

The morning saw the commencement of the Sahasrachandika Mahayaga being conducted as part of the the Sringeri Rajagopuram Kumbhabhisheka celebrations for the welfare of the mankind.

The Mahayaga is being conducted at the Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Sabha Bhavanam. The Jagadguru graced the Mahasankalpa ceremony, which was read out by Sri Tangirala Shivakumara Sharma and after that the Ritwik varanam took place. Vidwan Sri M A Nagaraja Bhat, Principal of the Sringeri Pathashala was nominated as Pradhana Acharya and Vidwan Vinayaka Udupa as the Vachaka. The Pradhana Acharya, the Vachaka and all the Ritwiks of the Mahayaga then received the Purnaphalam from the Lotus hands of the Jagadguru. The Saptashati Parayanam started from 10 am onwards.

Ceremonies related to the Rajagopuram Kumbhabhisheka

Various Mandala Pujas and Homas took place and the day ended with a Rakshoghna Homa performed in the space available in the first floor of the Rajagopuram itself.

Atirudra Mahayaga

As a part of the ongoing Atirudra-Mahayaga, unison chanting of The Rudra-prapathaka by the 130 odd Ritwiks created an ethereal ambience. The Parayanam started at 7 am in the morning and went on till noon. The Rudra Kramarchana started by 4:30 pm and ended with Ashtavadhana Seva & Mahamangalarati by 6:30 pm.

Cultural Programme

As part of the 6th day Celebrations of the Rajagopuram Kumbhabhisheka, the cultural programme featured a Bhakti Sangeet – a light music concert by renowned musician Vidushi Smt. Sangeeta Kulkarni Katti and group. Just before the start of the concert, she was awarded with the prestigious title of Asthana Vidushi of Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham in the divine presence of the Jagadguru Mahaswamiji. CEO & The Administrator Dr. V.R.Gowrishankar before reading out the citation mentioned that Smt. Sangeeta Kulkarni Katti had come here as a young girl to sing in front of Goddess Sharadamba and had prayed for a bright future. Today by the grace of Goddess Sharadamba, she has grown to such a stature in the world of music that she was being conferred the the title of Asthana Vidushi of the Peetham. The Jagadguru graciously blessed the singer and the artists accompanying her in Harmonium, Tabla and Cymbals.
