Spoken Sanskrit workshop in Pathashala


 


Samskrita Sambhashana workshop at Sringeri Pathashala

A workshop on spoken Samskritam was conducted at Sri Sadvidya Sanjeevini Samkrita Mahapathashala. More than 80 students from the Pathashala had participated in the workshop. In the Validictory function held on 4th August 2014, the Principal of the Pathashala Vidwan M A Nagaraja Bhat mentioned शक्तिग्रहकारणेषु प्रधानभूतं कारणं व्यवहार एव । अतः संस्कृतछात्रैः प्रतिदिनं संस्कृतभाषया व्यवहर्तुं प्रयत्नः करणीयः – The primary means of getting accustomed to and understanding the meaning of new words is through interaction. So students of the language should converse in Samskritam everyday to get hold of the language. The co-ordinator of the workshop Sri Mahesh Kakatkar also addressed the students and said पाठशालासंस्थापकानां प्रातःस्मरणीयजगद्गुरु श्रीश्रीसच्चिदानन्दशिवाभिनवनृसिंहभारतीमहास्वामिनां करुणया दूरदर्शित्वेन च सनातनविद्यासंरक्षणकार्यम् अनुस्यूततया इदानीमपि प्रचलति – It is by the sheer grace and foresight of the founder of this Pathashala (established in 1895), Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamiji, the 33rd Jagadguru of Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham that the system of Vedic education is continuing without any interruption here. As part of the workshop, the students of the Pathashala also participated in elocution events and and in the chanting of Srimad Bhagavad Gita.
