Sringeri Jagadgurus complete Chaturmasya

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam and Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam completed their Chaturmasya Vrata and undertook Seemollanghanam on the morning of Bhadrapada Poornima (September 28, 2015). Coming out of Sacchidananda Vilas at around 9:00 AM, the Ubhaya Jagadgurus first had Darshan at the Adhishthanams of the immediate predecessor Acharyas and then went from Narasimha Vanam to the northern banks of the Tunga crossing the river via the Sri Vidyatirtha Sethu. The Jagadgurus then had Darshan at all temples on the northern bank including the Goddess Sharadamba temple. Thereafter, the Jagadgurus walked in an Utsava to the temple of Lord Malahanikareshwara, situated on the hillock near the main entrance of the Math. The Jagadgurus had Darshan in the temple. The Jagadgurus had Darshan of Goddess Bhavani, remained in the Sannidhi until the Ashtaavadhaana Seva was performed and returned to Narasimha Vanam.

During the last fortnight of the Chaturmasya, a number of events had taken place. Vinayaka Chaturthi was observed with great festivity at Sringeri on September 17, 2015. Jagadguru Shankaracharaya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam offered special Puja to Lord Mahaganapati at Guru Nivas at around 12 noon. After initially worshipping Lord Ratnagarbha Ganapati, Sri Mahasannidhanam performed Panchamrita Abhisheka to the Vigraha of Lord Mahaganapati. Chants of Ganapati Atharvasheersha and the Ganapati Suktam from the Rig Veda rent the air. The Puja ended with Sri Mahasannidhanam offering Archana and Mahamangalarati. Immediately afterwards, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam performed a special Puja.

Special Pujas were also offered to Sri Torana Ganapati, Sri Vidya Ganapati in the Vidyashankara temple, Sri Stambha Ganapati in the Sri Malahanikareshwara temple, and Sri Shakti Ganapati in the Goddess Sharadamba temple. Puja to a large Vigraha of Lord Vinayaka was performed in the Pravachana Mandiram and to Sabha Ganapati at Sacchidananda Vilas where the Mahaganapati Vakyatha Vidwat Sabha took place.

In the afternoon, at 4:00 PM, the annual Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sabha for the ensuing Manmatha Samvatsara commenced in the divine presence of the Jagadgurus and under the august presidentship of Sri Mahasannidhanam. It was a great sight to behold Sri Mahasannidhanam and Sri Sannidhanam grace the Sabha, the former presiding over the Sabha and the latter commencing the Vakyartha sessions with His own Vakyartha in Nyaya Shastra.

Sri Mahasannidhanam performed a special Puja as part of the Kedareshwara Vrata (22nd September) with Sri Sannidhanam present during the Mahamangalarati. Sri Vamana Jayanti was observed with great fervour on 24th September. After the Chandramoulishwara Puja was performed for that night by Sri Sannidhanam, Sri Mahasannidhanam performed the first Puja as part of the Chaturyama Puja done during Vamana Jayanti. Sri Sannidhanam then performed the remaining three Pujas and also did Parayanam of the Puranic verses related to Vamana Avatara. The following morning, Sri Mahasannidhanam performed the Uttara Puja with Sri Sannidhanam present during the Mahamangalarati. Ananta Padmanabha Vrata was performed by Sri Mahasannidhanam on 27th September at 9:00 AM. Sri Mahasannidhanam also performed the Uma Maheshwara Vrata at 12 noon the same day, with Sri Sannidhanam witnessing the Mahamangalarati.

During the Chaturmasya period, hundreds of thousands of devotees had Darshan of the Ubhaya Jagadgurus. Many communities and Bhakta Samajas from various parts of the country also arrived with their members, numbering in thousands, during the weekends, had Darshan, performed Bhiksha Vandanam and sought the Jagadgurus’ blessings. All devotees who came to Sringeri during the Chaturmasya deemed themselves most fortunate to have Darshan of the Ubhaya Jagadgurus, the occasion for them being very special as Sri Sannidhanam observed His first Chaturmasya along with His Guru, Sri Mahasannidhanam, who observed His 41st Chaturmasya
