Ganga Puja during Dakshinayana Punyakala

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam observed the Dakshinayana Punyakala at Sringeri on July 16, 2017. The Dakshinayana occurs when Surya moves from the Mithuna Rashi to the Karkataka Rashi. The Dharma Shastras proclaim the last twelve hours preceding this change of zodiac to be auspicious and hence the term Dakshinayana Punya Kaala. Sri Mahasannidhanam performed an elaborate Ganga Puja during the Dakshinayana Punya Kala on the southern banks of the Tunga River. After Mahamangalarati, the Jagadguru proceeded to the Adhishtana Mandirams and witnessed the Aarati at the Adhishtanams of His Guru, Parama Guru and Parameshti Guru.
