Shankara Nama Koti Japa

With the blessings of the Ubhaya Jagadgurus, devotees associated with Shankara Nama Japa Yajna Seva Samiti of Mysuru took to Koti Japa of the sacred name of Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya.

With thousands of people participating and performing crores of Japa, the Samiti members and devotees visited Sringeri on February 4, 2021 to offer their Pranams and receive the blessings of the Ubhaya Jagadgurus.

In His Anugraha Bhashanam, Sri Sannidhanam stated that we revere Sri Adi Shankaracharya as Jagadguru because we find in His works pathways to securing one’s own welfare for every type of person in this world.

Just as devotees can be classified into those who come to have their difficulties removed (AartaH), who seek knowledge (Jijnasu), who seek wealth (arthaarthi), and even those knowledgeable who are already-fulfilled (Jnani), we observe similar instances in the life of Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya.

For instance, the great Jagadguru by controlling the flow of the Narmada river in spate removed the distress of the people living on the river’s banks.

The Jagadguru being the preceptor of the greatest of all knowledge, Brahmavidya was indeed approached by innumerable seekers of knowledge.

Even for those who are in need of wealth, we find that Bhagavatpada bestowed it. The well-known example the Jagadguru composing even as a young Brahmachari, the Kanakadhara Stotram and bestowing wealth on a needy couple is testimony to this fact.

That even Jnanis adored Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya is evident from the fact that exalted disciples such as Padmapadacharya, Sureshwaracharya or even great personages even who came after His time, such as Sri Vidyaranya, Sri Appayya Deekshita, Sri Sadashiva Brahmendra held Him in great esteem.

Sri Sannidhanam commended and blessed the 30,000 devotees, spread all over the world, for having taken part in the Japa Yajna and performing the nama japa a total of 136 crore times.
