Sphatika Linga offered to Rameswaram temple

Rameswaram is the Kshetram for the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham at Sringeri as ordained  by Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya in His Mathamnaya.

Upon receiving a request from the authorities of Sri Ramanathaswamy temple in Rameswaram, and in accordance to the subsequent directive of Jagadguru Sri Mahasannidhanam, a special Sphatika Shiva Lingam being worshipped at Sringeri Math was taken from Sringeri and offered to the Sri Ramanatha Swamy temple for daily worship to the Sri Ramanatha Swamy temple at Rameswaram on February 24, 2021.

The Sphatika Lingam was handed over by Sri SN Krishnamurti (personal assistant to the Sringeri Jagadguru) to the Executive Officer and Archakas of the temple in the premises of the Sringeri Shankara Math in Rameswaram. The Sphatika Lingam was then taken in a procession into Sri Ramanathaswamy temple.

Ritwiks led by the Tantri of the Sringeri Math, Vedabrahmasri Tangirala Seetharama Sharma, who had travelled from Sringeri then performed rituals associated with the Prathishtha of the Sphatika Lingam in accordance with the Agamas. The rituals were performed in front of the shrine of Sri Kashi Vishwanatha Swamy, adjacent to the main sanctum sanctorum of Sri Ramanatha Swamy. Thereafter, the Sphatika Lingam was ceremoniously worshipped by the Archakas of the Ramanathaswamy temple and then taken inside the sanctum sanctorum.

The regular Abhisheka and Puja to the Sphatika Lingam, done in the sanctum sanctorum around 5am every day, has begun taking place from February 25, 2021.
