Shankara Jayanti celebrated


Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam performing Puja on Sri Shankara Jayanti

The birth anniversary of Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada, the rejuvenator of Sanatana Dharma, was reverentially observed at Sringeri from May 12, 2021, to May 17, 2021.

Mahanyasa Poorvaka Shata Rudra Abhisheka was performed to the Vigraha of Bhagavatpada in Sri Adi Shankaracharya Temple. Parayana of the four Vedas, the Prasthanatraya Bhashya and Madhaviya Shankara Digvijaya (the biography of Sri Shankara’s life) were performed daily.

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam and Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam had Darshan every day at the temple. Ashtottara Archana & Mahamangalarati took place in the divine presence of Sri Sannidhanam.

Madhaviya Shankara Digvijaya Parayana took place in the evenings in the divine presence of Sri Sannidhanam. Sri Sannidhanam also conducted a Shastra Sabha on the occasion with scholars in Sringeri participating.  

On May 17, 2021, Shankara Jayanti day, Sri Sannidhanam performed an elaborate Puja to Sri Adi Shankaracharya from around noon. Sri Sannidhanam ended the Puja with Mahamangalarati and Kanaka Abhisheka to the Vigraha of Sri Adi Shankaracharya. 

On May 18, Rathotsava of Sri Adishankara Bhagavatpada took place inside the Sri Math complex in the divine presence of the Jagadgurus.
