Sri Mahasannidhanam blesses Archaka of Rameswaram with Deeksha

It is well known that the Jyotirlinga Kshetram of Rameswaram is the Kshetram for the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, as ordained by Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya in the Mathamnaya. The religious activities of Sri Ramanatha Swamy temple at Rameswaram are guided by the Jagadguru of Sringeri.

As per centuries old tradition established by Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya, Maharashtra Brahmins offer regular worship to Sri Ramanatha Swamy and Goddess Parvata Vardhini in Rameswaram. It is noteworthy that these Archakas of the Rameswaram temple first receive Deeksha from the Sringeri Jagadguru, and only then enter the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Ramanatha Swamy and Goddess Parvata Vardhini to perform Puja.

On July 1, 2021, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam blessed the Archaka, Sri Sharavanan Ranade of Rameswaram, with the Deeksha and a Srimukha. In the forenoon, the preparatory rituals of the elaborate Deeksha ceremony took place in the precincts of the Adhishthanams in Narasimha Vanam, Sringeri.
