Sri Sharadamba Rathotsava

The annual Rathotsava of Goddess Sharadamba during the Sharan-Navaratri festival was celebrated this year today, on October 16, 2021.

Due to the prevailing global pandemic, the Rathotsava of the Goddess was conducted inside the premises of the Sri Matha in the newly constructed Syandana or small Ratha.

Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam graced the Rathotsava which commenced late in the morning at the temple of Goddess Sharadamba and proceeded in a clockwise manner through the precincts of the Sri Matha and concluded at the very place it commenced, the temple of Sri Sharadamba.

The Ratha was followed by the sonorous chanting of Vedic Mantras by the Pandits of the Sri Matha, students of the Sadvidya Sanjeevini Samskrita Mahapathashala, and traditional temple music (Mela-Vadya) by the musicians of the Sri-Matha.

  • An ideal disciple will indeed act as per the Guru’s instructions and not give place to thoughts as “Is it possible for me to do as he says? Shall I try something else?” If we follow our Guru’s instructions, it does not mean that we are unintelligent. It only implies that we have surrendered for our own good to a power superior to us.
