Sri Sannidhanam graces the Pattabhisheka of new Mathadhipati of Avani Sringeri Math

On June 8, 2022 evening, Jagadguru Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam arrived at the small village of Avani in Mulabagilu taluk in Kolar district. The Jagadguru was taken reverentially in a procession and blessed the assembled devotees with an Anugraha Bhashana.

Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam mentioned that one of the main reasons for undertaking this Vijaya Yatra was to grace Avani and perform the Pattabhisheka for a new Mathadhipati at Avani Sringeri Math. Acceding to the sincere prayers of the disciples of the Avani Sringeri Math, Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peethadheeshwara Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam had selected a Sannyasi, Sri Shantananda Bharati as the new Mathadhipati.

Sri Sannidhanam stated that the Patthabhisheka ceremony would take place the following morning. Earlier the trustees of the Avani Sringeri Math, Justice N. Kumar and Sri Saachidananda Murthy performed the Dhuli Padapuja. After the Anugraha Bhashanam, the Jagadguru performed Sri Sharada Chandramoulishwara Puja. The priests from the Sringeri Sharada Peetham performed all the rituals related to the Pattabhisheka as per the instruction of the Sringeri Jagadguru.

On the morning of June 9, 2022, Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam had Darshan at Sri Sharadamba and Sri Shankaracharya temple in the Avani Sringeri Math premises, and then graced the Pattabhisheka ceremony.

In his address, Dr V R Gowrishankar thanked the organisers for the elaborate arrangements made for the function. He explained that Avani Sringeri Math is administratively not a branch Math of Sringeri Sharada Peetham. While not administered from Sringeri, the Avani Sringeri Math is an independent entity run under the guidance of only the Sringeri Jagadgurus, and not under any other Sanyasi or Math.

Sri Shantananda Bharati Swamiji then delivered his speech wherein he mentioned that he can never repay his gratitude to Sringeri Ubhaya Jagadgurus for all the blessings they have bestowed on him. • An object continues to be dear as long as one derives pleasure from it and it is detested for the duration that it causes pain. The same object cannot be always liked or disliked. Sometimes, that which is not dear may become dear. Moreover, that which was loveable can turn unpleasant. The Atma, towards which affection never wanes, is always the most beloved. • It is pitiful that when many of us are asked, “who are you?”, The first thought that arises is “I am a Keralite”, or “I am a Punjabi”, etc. The thought that should immediately stem is “I am an Indian”. If people first feel that they are Indians and only then think of divisions, the nation will have great prosperity and the divisive forces will not be operative as they are today.
