The Jayanti and Aradhana of the 33rd Acharya of the Peetham, Jagadguru Sri Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Narasimha Bharati Mahaswamiji was observed at Sringeri on April 3 and April 9 2016.

A Telugu Upanyasa Mala by eminent Upanyasaka, Brahmasri Samavedam Shanmukha Sharma, was organized by devotees of the Peetham at Sringeri from 28th March to 1st April 2016. Sri Shankmukha Sharma gave Upanyasas on Shiva-Parvati Kalyanam based on the Puranas and the descriptions of the event by Telugu poets of yore. Hundreds of devotees attended the event that took place at the Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Sabha Bhavanam opposite the temple of Goddess Sharadamba.

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam performed Kumbhabhishekas at the Chamundeshwari temple at Korekallu and the Durga Parameshwari temple at Netravalli on March 28 and March 30 2016 respectively

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam graced the Rashtriya Samskrita Samsthan, Rajiv Gandhi Campus, Sringeri on the occasion of the institution’s 24th annual day function on March 27th 2016. Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam and Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam started from Sringeri on the afternoon of March 24 2016 and arrived at Narasimharajapura (NR Pura). A festive atmosphere prevailed as thousands of devotees welcomed the Jagadgurus and organised a procession through the arterial roads of the town. A grand public function was organised by the authorities of the temple of Goddess Mareekamba. Many dignitaries inclusive of Sringeri MLA Jeevaraj, MLC M. Shrinivas also participated in the function to welcome the Jagadgurus. After Dhuli Pada Puja and formal welcomes to the Jagadgurus, devotees were blessed with Anugraha Bhashanams by the Ubhaya Jagadgurus.

As part of the Shankara Jayanti Celebrations at Sringeri this year, the Annual Vedaposhaka Sabha Examinations will be held from 07th May 2016 to 11th May 2016.

On March 17, 2016, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam arrived at Vidyaranyapura Agrahara, had Darshan at the Sri Rama temple, and graced the Poornahuti of the Gayatri Homa performed in the temple premises by the elderly Purohit, Sri Prabhakara Bhat of Sringeri. In His Anugraha Bhashanam, Sri Sannidhanam spoke about the efficacy of the Gayatri Mantra. He also commended Sri Prabhakara Bhat for engaging in such acts of Dharma and being an ideal for many youngsters.

The annual Durgamba Rathotsava took place at Sringeri on March 16, 2016 at the temple of Goddess Vanadurga. Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam and Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam led the Rathotsava. Earlier Sri Mahasannidhanam arrived at the temple of Goddess Durgamba at around 11AM. After completing His afternoon Anushthanam, the Jagadguru began the Puja by around 12PM.

Vidwan Sri G Mahabaleshwara Bhat, Aasthaana Vidwan of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam, Dakshinaamnaaya Sri Sharada Peetham at Sringeri was awarded the President’s Certificate of Honour towards contribution to the Sanskrit language. Hon. President of India, Sri Pranab Mukherjee conferred the Honour on the scholar in a special function organised at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on March 11 2016.
