Completion of Sri Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sabha


 

The annual Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sabha that commenced on September 10, 2021, drew to a conclusion today at around 6:00 PM.

The valedictory function commenced with Vaidika Mangalacharanam by Vidwan Ganapati Bhatt, Mangala Gitam by Sringeri Sisters, followed by a Valedictory speech by the Administrator and CEO of the Sri Math, Guruseva Dhurina Dr. V. R. Gowrishankar. Following this, two books were released by Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam –

  1. Vidvat Pratibha being a compendium of the Vakyarthas presented by scholars at the Sabha conducted in the previous year,
  2. Tarka-Padya-Ratnavali, authored nearly a century and half ago by one Vajapeya Sundaracharya at the Mysore Samsthana, being a gloss on the Nyaya Shastra treatise named “Nyaya-Siddhanta-Muktavali“. This work which was published nearly a century ago had now become quite rare, has been published under the guidance and with the blessings of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam and is the 24th work published under the “Sri Bharati Tirtha Veda Shastra Granthamala” series.

Then, Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam delivered a Benedictory speech in Sanskrit, highlighting the importance of the Shastra(s) and the timeless Guru-Shishya tradition in preserving and propagating the tradition.

Following the benedictory speech of Sri Sri Sannidhanam, Maha-Mangala-Aratrika was performed to the Vigraha of the Sabha-Ganapati, the Vigraha which had been duly installed at the commencement of the Vakyartha Sabha and worshipped daily throughout the fortnight. This was followed by Ashtavadhana Seva, chanting of Mantras from the four Vedas by the Math Pandits and Vadya and Mauri seva by the Sri Math musicians.

Chanting of the Mahaganapati Pancharatna Stava and Sri Ganadhipa Pancharatna Stava by the Pandits of the Sri Math, followed the Ashtavadhana Seva. The stotras were composed by composed by Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya and the 33rd Jagadguru Shankaracharya of the Peetham, Sri Sri Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Narasimha Bharati Mahaswamiji respectively.

The sabha concluded at around 7:15 PM with the honouring of the scholars.
